Study Abroad Exchange Program Awards
Undergraduate Exchange Program Scholarships
Competitive scholarships are available to full-time UD undergraduate students participating in a UD Exchange Program. Awards of up to $1,500 are available towards airfare, funded jointly by your UD academic department and the Institute for Global Studies.
As you complete an application for a UD Exchange Program, you will see a section which asks if you wish to be considered for scholarship awards. Select “Yes” and complete your application.
After acceptance and by the deadlines listed below, log back into the Study Abroad Portal to upload:
- A letter signed by your academic department’s chair or director confirming their $500 contribution; and
- Your confirmed flight itinerary showing the costs of travel to your exchange program site.
Late applications or applications missing any of these elements will not be reviewed and will not receive funding.
Fall Semester UD Exchange Programs: April 15 at 5 p.m.
Spring Semester UD Exchange Programs: November 15 at 5 p.m.
Applicants and their departments will be notified of award status via email within three weeks of the deadlines listed above.
Maintain Your Scholarship
If you receive an Undergraduate Exchange Program Scholarship and are dismissed from your program due to improper conduct or you withdraw from the program, and program funds have been expended on your behalf, you will be required to repay your scholarship award in full.
Pay it Forward
If you receive an IGS award, you will be asked to:
- Email IGS brief, weekly written submissions and photos reflecting on your UD Study Abroad experience for the UDAbroad Blog.
- Email IGS your 2 best photos depicting what you have learned about your host culture.
Additional instructions will be given to you prior to departure.
