Terra Dotta Software (TDS) Portal

LEARN ABOUT THE NEW SCHOLAR MODULE

The Terra Dotta Software (TDS) Portal was built specifically for international student and scholar services. The system greatly enhances both the individualized services ISSS can provide to our international community and makes it easier for them to submit forms and maintain their records with our office.

Through Terra Dotta, students, scholars, and departments are able to officially log on to their individualized profile in TDS. Here, each will be able to complete several tasks from one central location. In addition, through TDS, students and scholars will have the opportunity to participate in learning modules to build on their understanding of U.S. academic culture, immigration requirements and much more.

The software allows ISSS to offer additional services to our international community, including email reminders to complete specific tasks and optional alert communications through text messaging to smartphones. In addition, UD Staff and Department representatives are able to work within TDS to submit electronic approvals and recommendations on behalf of students and scholars.

Terra Dotta is a well-established and widely-used software that both creates more effective advising services and facilitates a smooth and easy process for our international community to maintain their immigration status.

Those with questions are welcome to contact ISSS by phone at (302) 831-2115 or by email at oiss@udel.edu.

Information and Resources about New TDS Scholar Module

The Scholar Services Team at the Center for Global Programs & Services (CGPS) launched the new Terra Dotta Software (TDS) Scholar Module on February 1, 2024. This module marks a more streamlined, user-friendly, and collaborative approach to visa sponsorship processing for both J-1 Visiting Scholars and H-1B Employees.

Please be sure to check email and this page for updates on workshops, training manuals and much more as they become available.

Frequently Asked Questions

At this time, F-1 & J-1 Students records will continue to be managed via TDS Classic.

For J-1 Scholar and H-1B cases, the ISSS Forms page will be retired. All processes will be conducted via TDS Scholar via the J-1/H-1B’s immigration record. Links to required forms/templates are additionally accessible from the J-1/H-1B’s immigration record.

All “pending” and “active” J-1 and H-1B cases have been imported into TDS Scholar. Departments currently hosting employees in other employment-based immigration statuses (O-1, TN, etc.) will additionally have access to their immigration record. If there is an expected record which is not displaying, please contact oiss-scholars@udel.edu to investigate further.

Unfortunately there is no save functionality for the New Sponsorship Request. It will need to be completed all at once. Please preview the New Sponsorship Request so that you are aware of the information needed.

Our office will reach out within 5 business days of New Sponsorship Request submission. Additional information may be needed before the request can be approved.

If the request is approved, you will be notified via email. Following approval, you and the J-1/H-1B may begin to submit information and documents needed to proceed.

If additional information is needed for your New Sponsorship Request we will contact you to provide the additional information which you may update in the request.

The “Export Excel” button is tied to the specific tab group that you are currently within. To gather Excel data from the Sponsorship Requests, Pending Records, Active Records, and the Inactive tabs, you would need to navigate to each tab and then select the “Export Excel” button. Later on, you could combine the data from the multiple files.

It is preferred that emails be sent via the portal when possible as this will maintain a log of the communication for future reference.

The Department Administrator assigned to the card, the H-1B employee, and ISSS Administrators will receive an email notification both 240 and 180 days prior to the end of the H-1B period. Additionally, the Alerts tab will list H-1B employees sponsored by your department(s) who are within the window to initiate the H-1B extension.

When a J-1 scholar is delayed, please submit a “Amend Program Dates” request in the scholar’s record. Please make sure to upload the offer letter with the new program dates before submitting the request.

Please send us an email to oiss-scholars@udel.edu. We are happy to answer your questions and we could set up a meeting to discuss further.
