Welcome to Residence Life & Housing!

We're here to help. As we navigate creating a healthy and safe on-campus home for your student, we welcome your questions and your partnership.

Just as we work with you, we partner with students to create welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive residence hall communities. Students do more than simply live in our halls; they take the opportunity to learn and engage as they develop as citizens and leaders.

Processes in Residence Life & Housing that are coming soon or are open now

The returning student application for 2024-2025 housing is available to rising sophomores, juniors, seniors and Associate in Arts students transitioning to Newark campus in the fall who want to live on-campus. Housing for returning students is not required or guaranteed, but interested students must apply by the posted deadline to be considered for a space. The application can be accessed in the My Housing Portal starting in the afternoon on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 through 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024.  It is not first come first served and does not require an application fee. Learn more in the Application Guide.

Once the application closes on February 29, we will not accept additional applications. Our ability to offer a late, non-guaranteed application for students who miss the deadline will depend on space availability and may not be announced until the summer.

Spring Break Application Open February 22–March 21

While our apartment-style residence halls stay open, traditional and suite-style residence halls close for Spring Break at 7pm on March 22 and reopen at noon on March 31. Apartment residents will keep access to their unit during the break and don't need to check out or complete a break application. All other students must vacate their hall by the posted closing time. Those who need a late stay or need to stay on campus for any portion of the break must complete a Spring Break application in the My Housing Portal between February 22 and March 21 at 5 p.m. Learn more on the Application Guide.
