Parents & Family

Welcome, Blue Hen Family!

Whether you're an alumni, a First-Generation parent, or if you're new to UD overall, we're here to help you navigate all things housing. Living on campus and getting involved in the residential community can be one of the most rewarding experiences of college for our students! Our staff strive to create welcoming and inclusive environments that support students’ academic, personal and social endeavors.

Housing Highlights

We’re excited to welcome your new Blue Hen to campus! Head over to our First-Year Students page for more information about first-year on-campus housing requirements and processes.

We are so glad that your student has decided to join UD! If your student was admitted as a transfer with more than 18 credits from another institution, head over to our Transfer Students page for more information about on-campus housing opportunities for transfer students.

If your student was admitted with 18 or fewer credits and graduated high school within the last year (or is under the age of 18), they likely were admitted as a freshman transfer. If this is their case, check out our First-Year Students page for more details about on-campus housing requirements and processes that apply to them.

You can confirm how your student was admitted through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

We hope your student will consider living on campus after their first year! Head over to our Returning Students page for more information about on-campus housing opportunities for upper division students.

Our residence halls feature a mix of traditional and suite style housing for first-year students, and traditional, suite and apartment-style housing for returning students. Room types include limited single occupancy with a majority double and triple occupancy. For more details about our buildings and amenities, Explore Our Halls online!

Throughout the year, we update our website with information about upcoming or current housing processes. Be sure to visit our Housing Info & Policies page to review Application Guides, Move In/Out Guides, Housing Rates and more!

We know that many parents and guardians like to be updated about housing. Students can enter an email address for a parent/guardian within the My Housing portal to give our office permission to send information about things like housing processes, deadlines and the housing contract. If your student wants to give you permission to view their housing address and financial information (which is different from the general information mentioned above), please have your student complete that process via UDSIS in the Parents/Guardian Secure Services site. Learn more about that process on the Parents & Guardians website.
