Non-Credit Travel Study
A Note About COVID-19
All University travel is currently suspended. When safe travel can resume, only essential travel will be permitted, including essential academic travel, travel on sponsored research funds, travel funded entirely by outside entities and travel necessary to deliver instruction or outreach programs or to conduct vital University activities or business.

Non-Credit Travel Study
In addition to traditional study abroad programs, the University offers non-credit travel study opportunities, sponsored by a variety of units across campus. The Center for Global Programs & Services (CGPS) collects basic information about the program and its participants so that we can help in case of an emergency. All participants will be required to complete a Registration Form in the Study Abroad Portal, and those traveling internationally will also receive GeoBlue insurance free of charge.
Information for Program Leaders
If your unit plans to sponsor a non-credit travel study program, please contact email@example.com with the following information at least 30 days prior to your departure:
Daily program calendar/itinerary;
Contact information for the group (at every site);
Complete contact information for the official program leader (UD faculty or staff); and
List of final participants.
Once the information is received, a CGPS team member will add the program to the Study Abroad Portal and respond with instructions for you to forward to your students.
Information for Program Participants
Please note: Program leaders should instruct their students to complete the steps below only after the program has been added to the Study Abroad Portal. Those with questions are invited to contact CGPS at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- 1. Prepare Your Information.
- 2. Complete the CGPS Registration Form.
- 3. Review International Health Insurance.
Before completing the online Registration Form, have the following information ready:
Passport number, issue date, and expiration date (for international programs);*
Emergency contact information;
Health Insurance carrier, group and policy number; and
Names of any medications that you are currently taking.
*If you do not yet have a passport, apply for this immediately. You will need to log in and update your registration form when your passport arrives.
Completing the Registration Form will register you as a “student traveler” in UD’s database. If you have an emergency abroad, UD will use the information provided to help you and to notify your family:
Log in to the Study Abroad Portal.
Complete your Student Profile.
Select “Update Profile Information.”
Select “Return to Student Programs Page.”
Select “Start a New Program Application.”
Select the correct term (Summer, Winter, etc.) as the Academic Session.
Select your program from the list. If you do not see your program, stop and contact CGPS.
Complete the Registration Form.
If you have difficulty submitting the form, contact our office for assistance.
All students on programs traveling outside of the U.S. will receive Geo-Blue International Health Insurance to cover them while abroad. Follow the instructions from your program leader on how to obtain your Geo-Blue insurance. The insurance provides 24-hour emergency health assistance as well as $250,000 in coverage.
