UD Study Abroad Photo & Video Contest

2019 Winners

UD Study Abroad Photo & Video Contest

The 2019-20 Study Abroad Photo and Video contest will open soon. In the meantime, the Institute for Global Studies (IGS) invites you to explore submission categories, rules and guidelines and view the winners of last year's contest below.

You must be a current student and have participated in a University of Delaware study abroad or domestic travel study program in the 2019-2020 academic year. This includes Summer '19, Fall '19, Winter '20, and Spring '20 programs.

We require all photos & video be high resolution (2MB per image minimum), sent electronically, and saved as .jpg or .mov files. You may only submit your original material.

Media may be edited in any manner you, as the photographer, see fit. All work will be judged on the basis of photographic quality and subject material.*

All submissions will be accepted via an online submission form. For those submitting videos larger than 19 MB, please complete the form but dropbox your video to go-global@udel.edu.

  1. Connectivity. A key transformation of your study abroad journey will be in discovering that while our lives as humans differ vastly across the world, we are all also connected in many ways. In this category, you will have the opportunity to submit a photo of you and your new local friends and family learning about each other, sharing moments, and making memories. Photos submitted must include both UD students and residents of your host communities.

  2. Portraiture. Share a portrait or artistic representation of a person, persons, or creature you met or observed during your travels.

  3. Striking Scenes. Capture the essence and energy of the geographic settings(s) in which you studied and explored.

Dare to Take us There (in 60 Seconds or Less). Invite us into your study abroad experience with a 60-second (or less) video. What did you explore? Who did you meet? How did you feel?

Students may submit no more than two photos in each photo category and one video.

Entries must be received by Sunday, March 29, 2020.

Prizes will be awarded to the best overall photo and the top three candidates in each photo category. One prize will be awarded for the best overall video. Winners will be recognized at a spring event. Winning entries will be included in IGS social media and communications, and will be displayed in an on-campus fall exhibit.

Social Media:

All members of the UD community are invited to contribute to the story of study abroad by including #UDAbroad in your posts. In addition, like and Mention @UDGlobal on Instagram and Twitter to appear on official University social media.

Remember to use good judgment when creating posts as content can go anywhere on the Internet, and represent the University, as well as you. For more information, visit www.udel.edu/socialmedia.

*The Institute for Global Studies reserves the right to disqualify any student who submits media including the use of alcohol, tobacco, or any other inappropriate material. In addition, IGS will not accept photos or videos of students taking part in activities with more than minimal risk (ie. skydiving or any similar activity).
