New Appointment in Provost's Office
Ravi Ammigan, who has served as the University of Delaware’s Associate Provost for International Programs since 2019, has been named Vice Provost for Global Engagement, Interim Provost William Farquhar announced on July 1, 2025.
As UD’s senior international officer, Ammigan will lead the Center for Global Programs and Services (CGPS), oversee the UD-International initiative and drive the university’s internationalization strategy and global engagement efforts. He will focus efforts on fostering and strengthening relationships with other leaders, faculty, staff and students to ensure the integration of international programs, services and resources across the institution.
“Ravi brings a deep understanding of the global landscape and a clear, inclusive vision for the future of international education at UD,” said interim provost Farquar. “He has been a trusted leader in advancing the University’s global strategy and mission, and we are thrilled to have him step into this critical role.”
Ammigan brings 25 years of international higher education experience and has served in various leadership positions since joining UD in 2013, including the role of associate provost for international programs for the past 6 years. Under his leadership, CGPS worked collaboratively with campus and community leaders to broaden the University’s international portfolio, develop the university’s comprehensive internationalization strategy and enhance global learning and engagement opportunities for students, faculty, and staff.
Ammigan will provide leadership for the UD-International initiative, which offers a formal structure for strengthening campus internationalization through strategic positioning, outreach, collaboration, and engagement. Priorities include innovating and expanding inclusive global education opportunities, establishing strategic international student recruitment strategies, leading the development of international agreements and contracts, and bringing visibility and support to global experiential learning and research on campus and around the world. He will also work to advance our campus and community through cultivating global alumni networks, corporate engagement, and philanthropic giving and maintain the University’s global presence as a premier research institution through leadership and expertise in the field of international education.
Ammigan also holds a secondary faculty appointment as Associate Professor in the School of Education, where his main research focuses on the academic, social, and cultural experiences of students in higher education. He speaks regularly at conferences internationally and publishes frequently on the topic of international student affairs.
“It’s an incredible honor to serve as vice provost for global engagement,” said Ammigan. “UD has such a deep history and legacy as a pioneer in international education, and I am excited to work alongside our amazing Blue Hens and valued partners to further our global collective impact. Through strategic partnerships and innovative programming, we can ensure that international learning becomes an integral part of every student’s academic journey. We’ll continue to frame our work around the principles of the Global We, which represent a shared commitment to internationalization, partnership, and the power of education in shaping a better world.”
