4-H, Personal & Economic Development
Extension volunteer programs continue to grow and expand to develop leadership skills in youth and adults through programs in 4-H Youth Development, agriculture and natural resources, lawn and garden, and health and nutrition.
The 4-H youth development program encourages life skills and leadership development and exposes youth to STEAM topics at an early age through learning experiences that are hands-on, sequential, fun and relatable to the real world. The economic and financial wellbeing of individuals, families, agribusiness, other small business enterprises, and our communities throughout Delaware are inter-related and are a focus of extension programs.
UD Extension's 4-H, Personal and Economic development programs encompass four major categories: Delaware 4-H, agribusiness, the Farm Vitality and Health Project and personal financial management initiatives.

Delaware 4-H
4-H is delivered through Cooperative Extension systems nationwide. 4‑H welcomes young people of all beliefs and backgrounds, giving kids a voice to express who they are and how they make their lives and communities better. A large focus is on ensuring hands-on activities which teach science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM).
