Delaware Cooperative Extension Kent and Sussex Master Gardener Volunteer Educator Training Application Fall 2019

The 2019 Delaware Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Training Program for residents living in Kent and Sussex counties begins on Monday, Sept. 9 through Monday, Nov. 25, 2019.  Classes are held twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m.to 12:30 p.m.  Most trainings  are scheduled at the Kent County and Sussex County Extension Office.

Training sessions may require travel to another location to learn with your
fellow trainees from the other two counties. Carpooling is encouraged.

As a member of the 2019 Delaware Master Gardener training class, you are expected
to:

  • complete the course of study,
  • volunteer 40 hours (25 of which will be completed
    by participating in the Garden Help Line) and,
  • gain an additional 5 hours of advanced
    training by November 1, 2020

Applications postmarked after Friday, May 17, 2019 will not be accepted. Once accepted, the training fee is $100. Selected applicants will be notified by the county coordinator (preferably by phone) by Friday, July 19, 2019. A  University of Delaware background check is required to be completed by Friday, June 28, 2019. Background checks not completed by June 28 will eliminate the candidate from consideration.

All applicants are encouraged to attend an evening open house event in June of 2019.
Time and location for the open house will be announced two weeks in advance.
