Become a Delaware 4-H Volunteer in 2020!
Have you ever wanted to make a positive impact in the life of a child and do so as a member of a nationally recognized youth development program? As we kick off a new year and a new decade, more and more adults are being intentional with their time and focusing on opportunities to share their many gifts and talents with youth across our state.
The Delaware 4-H Youth Development program, a unit of the Cooperative Extension Program at the University of Delaware, has had a front-row seat for over 100 years of preparing the youth of today for a better tomorrow. Unlike other university-based programs focused on post-secondary curriculum and education, Delaware 4-H is the youth-centered component to the most extensive youth development program in America. With an instructional curriculum based on well-established university research, 4-H stands out as the premier educational tool of a partnership that includes the federal government and our state’s higher educational institutions. Competent and caring adults, such as yourself, serve as 4-H volunteers called “leaders” and instruct youth in a myriad of programmatic and hands-on experiential learning.
Adult volunteers serve as the mentors that 4-H youth need during the most important years of their lives.

Program areas such as STEM and agriculture, civic engagement and healthy living, set the stage for meaningful and positive learning that begins with our Cloverbud members who start their 4-H experience at age five. With participation in the program available to youth till the age of nineteen, the breadth and depth of opportunities for adults to give of their knowledge and experience is limitless.
With a program of excellence focused on four essential elements: belonging, independence, mastery and generosity; adult volunteers serve as the mentors that 4-H youth need during the most important years of their lives.
If you see yourself in this new year as wanting to make a positive change in the life of child, sign up to be a Delaware 4-H volunteer today and give the gift of yourself with a new generation of youth who are seeking to learn and grow.
