Welcome to the gold Guard!
The University of Delaware Gold Guard recognizes alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago—a distinguished milestone and a testament to a lifetime of Blue Hen pride.
Each year, members of the 50th Reunion class are officially inducted into the Gold Guard and presented with a commemorative pin, celebrating their enduring connection to the University and fellow alumni.
As a Gold Guard member, you're part of a community that has helped shape the University of Delaware's history and traditions.
We invite you to reconnect with classmates, revisit campus and celebrate the memories that continue to unite generations of Blue Hens.
Gold Guard Traditions
To celebrate and honor your Gold Guard status, UD hosts offerings every year that we hope you can attend.
Whether it's been months or years since you've seen your classmates, Gold Guard events offer the opportunity to reconnect, reminisce and make new memories together.
Commencement Delegates Breakfast
UD Graduation | Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend
Celebrate the next generation of Blue Hens by joining graduating students and their families for a special breakfast reception before Commencement.
Gold Guard members are invited to participate in the academic procession by walking onto the field before the ceremony begins and are provided reserved seating to enjoy the Commencement ceremony.
Homecoming Weekend Events
November 13-14, 2026
Each fall, Gold Guard members are invited back to campus for a variety of Homecoming celebrations. Join us for one or all the events scheduled to honor the Gold Guard at Homecoming Weekend 2026!
Friday, November 13:
Shuttle Bus Tour of South Campus
1:45–5 p.m.
Arrive at Courtyard Marriott on North Campus and board a shuttle bus to attend walking tours of buildings around south campus. This is a walking tour so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
Honoring the Decades Dinner
6-9 p.m. | Courtyard Marriott | $70
Join fellow Blue Hen alumni as we honor the class of 1976 and the Gold Guard with a cocktail reception and buffet dinner.
Saturday, November 14:
Walking Tour of Main Campus
9:45-11 a.m.
Arrive at Trabant University Center for a walking tour of campus with current Blue Hen Ambassador student tour guides!
Blue Hen Tailgate
1-3 p.m. | Delaware Stadium | $30 (3 drink tickets), $20 (cash bar)
Join fellow Blue Hens from all classes before cheering on our team as they face FIU!
Remember, you can bundle your Friday and Saturday events for $90.
Hotel accommodations are available at the Courtyard Marriott.
Your Gold Guard Pin
When you were inducted to the Gold Guard, you were awarded with a commemorative pin to signify your Gold Guard alumni status.
Be sure to wear it proudly to University or Gold Guard events!
