Research Interests

My research goal is to integrate novel multidisciplinary technologies into food production and improve the safety and sustainability of the food supply chain from farm to table. The current research interests include:

  1. Value-added processing of food wastes and development of novel food products/ingredients that promote gut health.
  2. Development of large-scale plasma reactors for food contact surface sanitation, hydroponic farming, and protein modification.
  3. Production and characterization of biochar from agriculture wastes for soil amendment, novel growth media, and climate-smart farming practices.
  4. Robotics and AI-assisted food indoor farming and food processing.
  5. Use numerical simulation to optimize the operations in thermal/nonthermal processing, postharvest processing, and contact surface sanitation.
