New Castle County Extension to relocate

March 27, 2026 Written by: Katie Peikes, Communications Specialist

The New Castle County location of University of Delaware Cooperative Extension will relocate in April. The team anticipates its new home, right on the University of Delaware College of Agriculture and Natural Resources campus, will help staff better serve the public.

New Castle Extension houses program leaders for subject areas lawn and garden, 4-H youth development, agriculture, health and well-being and more. The staff currently at 461 Wyoming Rd., as well as other Extension staff currently at Townsend Hall, will move to 501 S. College Ave. in Newark.

Jennifer Volk, the associate director of UD Cooperative Extension said the move will help Extension clientele and the broader community better understand New Castle County Cooperative Extension’s role in CANR.

“From 4-H youth to adult program participants, they will see students, research and demonstration areas,” Volk said, “and our role of delivering university knowledge and resources will be even more evident.”

The New Castle County-based Extension team will share the building with UD’s Landscape Architecture program. Volk said she anticipates collaborative opportunities to come from that, which could mean new programs, resources and experiences for the public.

The team will move in late April. Extension hopes to welcome new visitors to the space by mid-May.
