Governor Signs 4-H Week and World Food Day Proclamations

Governor John Carney joined legislators and cabinet officials, along with members of the Delaware 4-H State Teen Council, in signing a proclamation declaring the week of October 7th, National 4-H Week in the State of Delaware.  Governor Carney is a longtime supporter of the Delaware 4-H Youth Development Program and was pleased to recognize the tremendous work 4-H does in connecting over 27,000 youth in the First State with science, citizenship, agriculture and healthy living programs, coordinated through the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension.

The Delaware 4-H State Teen Council officer team was also honored to stand alongside Delaware Governor John Carney to proclaim October 16, World Food Day in Delaware. With agriculture being the state’s number one economic driver, 4-H youth across Delaware are taking the lead in making sure all are aware of the needs children and families have for proper nutrition and healthy lifestyles.  With hunger and malnutrition being daily facts of life for hundreds of millions around the world, Delaware 4-H joins Governor Carney and all Delawareans, in efforts to educate and support programs that ensure health and wellness across economic and demographic lines.  Delaware 4-H youth throughout the state volunteered at local soup kitchens in Delaware in support of this initiative.
