Cultivating Learning, Culture, and Community

The Townsend East Lawn and Garden Project

The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and its public-facing units, UD Botanic Gardens, Cooperative Extension, and UDairy Creamery, serve as entry points to the University, inviting visitors to explore and engage on campus.

The Townsend East Lawn and Garden project will unite disparate portions of the Botanic Gardens by transforming a parking lot into a vibrant green space for teaching, research, and public gatherings. It will also improve wayfinding, safety and accessibility around our college.

We envision a space that gives our campus an inviting and cohesive appearance while activating student engagement, experiential learning, and community connection.

Drawing on the expertise of Botanic Gardens staff, CANR faculty, and Extension professionals, the project will expand educational efforts to diverse stakeholders through programming focused on ecologically minded landscape techniques and management. These enhancements will attract prospective students and enrich the curriculum. In addition, improved access will facilitate community outreach.

Please join us in our effort to create an innovative opportunity platform that will elevate our campus's aesthetic. Naming opportunities are available, along with general opportunities to support this transformation.
