What is National Estate Planning Awareness Week?
National Estate Planning Awareness Week is just around the corner! Observed every year during the third full week of October, it’s a reminder to prepare for the inevitable by putting a thoughtful estate plan in place — one that protects your interests and your loved ones.
An estate plan can include a will, a trust or both. It may also outline beneficiary designations for assets such as bank accounts, retirement plans and life insurance policies. And it should include powers of attorney to ensure your wishes are honored if you become unable to make decisions about your finances or healthcare.
Creating an estate plan brings peace of mind — and it’s also a powerful way to shape your legacy and support the causes that matter most, like the University of Delaware or OLLI. You can make a gift directly through your will or explore other planned giving options that may be a better fit for your goals.
To learn more, or to let us know you’ve already included UD in your plans, contact Nathana Jackson, senior director of gift planning, at ndlane@udel.edu. We’re happy to work with you and your attorney or financial advisor.
