SECONDARY FACULTY APPOINTMENT — INITIAL APPLICATION

Applications are accepted at any time and will be voted on by continuing track and tenure track faculty.

Secondary Appointment Form

Term of Appointment:

Appointments are effective July 1 through June 30.  Secondary appointments must be renewed annually by submitting a Secondary Appointment Renewal Form. If a renewal request is not submitted, the secondary appointment ends on June 30.

Requirements for Eligibility:

  1. Applicant must have worked as a full-time permanent employee of the University of Delaware in the Department of Physical Therapy for at least two years. Notes: (1) Current residents may not apply; (2) The two-year requirement may be waived for new hires who had a primary faculty appointment for two years at another academic institution.
  2. Applicant must have received a minimum of “meets expectations” for the overall rating on the prior year’s performance appraisal.
  3. In addition, applicant must meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Clinical instructor responsible for at least four students during the past year
  • Served as associate director or director during the past year
  • Served as course coordinator during the past year
  • Responsible for substantial course content (in one course or across multiple courses) during the past year

Rights and Privileges of Secondary Appointments:

  1. Invitation to applicable departmental meetings including, but not limited to, the annual departmental meeting
  2. Opportunity to provide input on DPT curriculum
  3. Opportunity to provide input on departmental decisions commensurate with role

Responsibilities of Secondary Appointments:

  1. Submit an annual review document as requested
  2. Attend the annual departmental meeting as requested
  3. Provide feedback and input to meeting representatives as requested
  4. Participate in departmental service
