The Department of Geography and Spatial Sciences (GSS) at the University of Delaware College of Earth, Ocean and Environment offers a variety of bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs that will prepare you for an exciting and impactful career in academia, government or private industry.
Study Abroad
Students from many majors can join our study abroad programs. CEOE programs have traveled to New Zealand, Mexico, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Australia, Fiji, Barbados, and many other places. These trips explore the geographic, marine, geological, biological, chemical and cultural environments of the destinations.
Graduate Programs
The Department of Geography and Spatial Sciences at the University of Delaware offers masters and doctoral degree programs for students interested in human geography, physical geography, and climatology. Environmental Science and Management (M.S., Ph.D.)

Program areas include the physics of climatology (thermodynamics, radiation, and cloud processes), atmospheric dynamics (forces and flows), measurement (microclimatological methods and instrumentation, remote sensing) and computational methods for data analysis and synthesis. Read more >

Graduate Certificates
Geographic Information Science (GIS) Certificate

Minerals, Materials and Society (MMS) Certificate
This certificate program is the first of its kind in the United States to offer a for-credit graduate program aimed at industry, government and civil society professionals working across mineral and extractive supply chains. The program approaches the topic from an interdisciplinary and industrial ecology perspective with attention to key skills needed to evaluate the environmental and social impacts of the sector. The program is designed with online offerings, as well as on-campus and field course offerings.
Wind Power Science and Policy Certificate
This certificate from UD is known for its cutting-edge, interdisciplinary, and collaborative wind power research and education. Coursework provides students accreditation in wind turbine engineering and explores the relationship of renewable energy impacts on the environment, regulations and society.
