Commemorating 9/11

Campus and community mark anniversary of 9/11

The University of Delaware will observe Patriot Day this Thursday on the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Flags on the UD campuses will be flown at half-staff in memory of those who died in the attacks, and the UD Carillon will toll at four times — 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m. and 10:03 a.m. — to mark each moment that one of the airplanes crashed in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Also, the City of Newark is organizing a National Day of Service from 9 a.m. to noon at Olan Thomas Park. Volunteers are needed to care for city parks and conduct programs and events that serve the community. For additional information or to register, call 302-366-7000 or email parksrec@newark.de.us.
