Tuition Benefits - Tuition Exchange Imports (Non-UD Employees)

The University of Delaware is a member of The Tuition Exchange which is a reciprocal scholarship program that allows dependent children to apply for competitive scholarships at participating Tuition Exchange (TE) member institutions. There are 700+ schools in the TE network. As a member, the University of Delaware agrees to abide by the national policies and practices of the TE organization.

Visit the national Tuition Exchange organization website for more information.

UD awards a limited number of TE Scholarships every year to incoming freshmen. Transfer and current UD students can also be considered for a TE scholarship. UD typically receives over 350 TE applications for these limited spaces. Please be aware this is a very competitive process and students are evaluated based on their high school academic record.

You must be accepted to the University of Delaware prior to being reviewed for Tuition Exchange as an import student.

Review Process for Transfer and Currently Enrolled Students:

It is our process to award TE scholarships first to eligible incoming first-year students. Incoming first year students have until May 1 to make a TE decision. It is typically late in the process before additional awards can be confirmed for transfer and currently enrolled students, although typically there are remaining TE scholarships. These are given to transfer and currently enrolled students who are eligible but have not received TE previously. The priority begins first with transfer students, then seniors, juniors, and sophomores.  Within each group, we further prioritize by cumulative UD GPA. Please also check with your school (employer) to ensure they would permit applying for TE in subsequent years.

Application Process for Currently Enrolled UD Students:

  • Students currently enrolled at UD who are eligible, and have not been previously awared a TE scholarship, must complete a TE online application and it must be received by the Jan. 15 deadline for consideration.
  • Students will be reviewed for TE after May 1.
  • Award status notifications will be sent in June.

Students who are awarded a TE scholarship at UD, must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or better, along with full-time matriculated enrollment each semester. At the end of each semester, UD will verify the criteria and re-certify the TE scholarship. Human Resources will notify the Student Financial Services office and the scholarship will be applied to the student’s financial account soon after.
