Online Testing Center

Testing Center Mission Statement

The UD Online Testing Center administers online, on-campus and professional exams in a technologically-advanced and secure environment.

We uphold academic integrity and support the university community by providing convenient assessment solutions for students, faculty and local residents. The UD Online Testing Center adheres to the National College Testing Association (NCTA) Professional Standards and Guidelines.

The course syllabus will list all required assignments, including exams. Students enrolled in an online course will receive an email each semester indicating their exam location and/or testing method.

If students have issues with the location chosen for them, they must contact udonline-exams@udel.edu to discuss changing their location prior to the beginning of the semester. All exams must be taken at the same location during the semester.

Scheduling Exams

Students taking exams in Newark, Dover and Georgetown must schedule an apppointment in advance. The Scheduling Portal allows the student to select the term, exam, and preferred date/time. Testing Center hours vary by location.

Typically, your testing center will have already been assigned to you. (You should have previously received an email with this information at the start of the term.)

Distance students testing will need to schedule through UD’s ProctorU Portal.

Rescheduling Exams

To reschedule an exam that is outside of the normal testing week, it is the student’s responsibility to:

  • Obtain instructor’s approval. The instructor must confirm approval by email to udonline-exams@udel.edu.

  • Contact UD Online to schedule a new exam time, 302-831-1500.

Rescheduled/makeup exams are offered on Wednesdays, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. If you are trying to reschedule an exam within the same week of the original exam, please cancel the exam in Registerblast and then reschedule. If the time of the exam has passed, you will not be able to cancel it on your own and will need to call our office to reschedule.

All students’ identities are confirmed by a valid government-issued photo ID prior to sitting for each proctored exam. Student privacy during a proctored exam at a distance is maintained through direct communication and the use of a secure testing service. UD Online staff, distance testing proctors and UD’s Academic Technology Services via the Central Authentication System (CAS) ensure the consistent application of the above student verification procedures.

Testing Center Locations

How Exam Locations are Determined

Fall and Spring Semesters

  • Full-time matriculated Newark-based students will test at the UD Online Testing Center in Newark unless documented testing accommodations are on file with the Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) and the student requests to test there.

  • Part-time students’ testing location will be based on the home address in UDSIS.

Summer and Winter Sessions

  • Delaware residents’ testing center assignments will be based on the home address in UDSIS.

  • Non-Delaware residents who are taking an on-campus class as well as an online course will test at the UD Online Testing Center in Newark.

  • Non-Delaware residents who are only taking an online class will receive an email inquiring about their living location during that session and their testing location will be based on their response.

Students cannot change testing locations during a semester. If you have any questions regarding your testing location, please contact udonline-exams@udel.edu.

Testing Center Rules and Policies

The University of Delaware Testing Centers in Newark, Dover and Georgetown adhere to a late policy for scheduled exams.

To minimize wait times and ensure available testing stations for students, exams are scheduled by appointment. Students must arrive within the first 15 minutes of their scheduled exam time, otherwise they may be required to reschedule their exam for another time or possibly another day.

We want to be respectful of everyone’s time and when we have a full schedule of appointments, we may be unable to give latecomers the full time allotted for their exams.

  • Familiarize yourself with the Testing Centers’ operating hours so that you schedule enough time to complete your exam before the facility closes. For example, if you have a two-hour exam and the Testing Center closes at 8 p.m., you should schedule your exam at 5:30 p.m. at the latest to account for time to park, store personal belongings, and check in.

  • Book your exams in advance for the entire semester. This will allow you to reserve the times most convenient for you, and you will receive email reminders for your upcoming exams.

  • Please be aware of the late policy and communicate directly with our office if you need support in any way related to abiding by our guidelines.
