Program Requirements

To earn the M.S. in applied artificial intelligence for business, you must complete 30 credits of approved coursework. You’ll work closely with the program director to map out a plan of study that fits your goals and schedule. Throughout the program, you must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to remain in good academic standing.

The M.S. in applied artificial intelligence for business is also offered as a hybrid program that blends both online and in-person courses.

Merit-Based Awards
Merit-based opportunities listed on this page are available to full-time students. Students must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 to be eligible for any type of funding.

Graduate Scholarships
Graduate scholarships are available for exceptionally qualified full-time applicants.

Teaching Assistantships
The GradWorks program provides M.S. or MBA students paid, hands-on experience as teaching assistants. Working alongside faculty, students may assist with grading, class discussions, course material preparation, in-class support and special projects. You may apply for a teaching assistantship in your first semester. Once approved, your résumé will be shared with academic departments. If your skills align with faculty needs, you will be contacted by the department. Assistantships are paid hourly.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities
Lerner College is offering several scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year to support students based on their connection to UD or recent economic challenges. Only one 20% graduate scholarship may be applied per qualifying student. These scholarships cannot be combined with other University of Delaware funding offers, including merit-based awards or assistantships.

• UD Alumni Support Scholarship: A 20% tuition scholarship and waived application fee for University of Delaware alumni pursuing any Lerner graduate program.
• UD Student Support Scholarship: A 20% scholarship for current UD juniors, seniors and recent grads entering Lerner graduate programs or 4+1 options.
• Economic Hardship Scholarship: A 20% tuition scholarship and fee waiver for individuals who experienced job loss in 2025 or 2026.

STEM Business Program

This STEM-designated business program builds the quantitative, analytical and technical skills employers prioritize today, such as data analysis, AI fundamentals, financial modeling and technological proficiency. STEM occupations are high earning, with a median wage double that of non-STEM fields, and are projected to grow faster than overall employment, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Industry Proven Faculty

Lerner faculty who teach in the masters program bring a combination of academic and real-world experience to the classroom providing fresh insights on the role of business analytics and information management.

You can transfer up to 9 credits per University of Delaware policy.

Note: No transfers are accepted for the capstone course.

All requests for transfer credit should be directed to the student’s major department using a Request for Transfer of Graduate Credit form. Transfer credits will be accepted provided that such credits:

• Were earned with a grade of no less than B,
• Are approved by the student’s adviser and the chair of the student’s major department,
• Are in accord with the specific degree program of the student as specified by the unit’s Graduate Program Policy Statement,
• Are not older than five years,
• Are graduate level courses, and
• Were completed at an accredited college or university.

Graduate courses counted toward a degree received elsewhere may not be transferred into a degree at the University of Delaware. Credits from institutions outside of the United States are generally not transferable to the University of Delaware.
