Pride Month

Pride Month at UD

This June, the University of Delaware is proud to celebrate Pride Month, but the fight for LGBTQIA+ causes and visibility is a year-round priority! Pride Month is a celebratory time for LGBTQIA+ causes and visibility. At UD, we strive to create an environment that fosters critical thinking, dignity and acceptance for Blue Hens of all sexualities and genders.

Join us in celebrating Pride Month by supporting the campus initiatives below—just a few of the many ways to get involved—that empower the LGBTQIA+ community.

Center for Intercultural Engagement

Located in the Perkins Student Center, the Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE) provides students a space to interact, explore and grow together around social justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. CIE embraces differences, engagement, intersectional identities and inclusion as essential aspects of the Blue Hen family.

Lavender Programming Board

Lavender Programming Board (LPB) is UD’s LGBTQIA+ student-run organization, providing students an easy way to connect with others in the community. The group hosts meetings and events celebrating queerness—ranging from game and paint nights, to drag shows, to discussions about LGBTQIA+ topics and issues. LPB also highlights fun and safe activities across campus.

UDPride Alumni Network

The UDPride Alumni Network celebrates Blue Hens of all sexual orientations and genders. The group works to create meaningful connections between alumni and students by actively participating in programs that engage with and benefit the UD LGBTQIA+ community.

If you'd like to get connected with this affinity, please email Ashley Ridler at aaridler@udel.edu.

Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration

The Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration is committed to providing opportunities for students to advance LGBTQIA+ causes and policy through experiential learning and guest speakers. Biden School students have interned at leading organizations like the Human Rights Campaign and the National Center for Transgender Equality. Key LGBTQIA+ initiatives through the Biden Institute include the Julie Mapes Wilgen Award in human sexuality and gender studies and courses such as LGBTQ Policy and Public Discourse, which was developed in part by Delaware State Senator Sarah McBride, America’s first openly transgender state senator.
