The Facilities Services and Campus Planning (FSCP) department will begin the necessary change over from cooling to heating systems in campus buildings.

While the transition date is determined by current and forecast temperatures, the expected start time frame is mid-October, and the transition will take two weeks to complete. Occupants may experience some minor building temperature fluctuations during this time.

If a temperature issue arises, please submit a Fixit request (https://web.facilities.udel.edu/MaximoFixit/). A mechanic will be dispatched to address the problem if the temperature is outside the University's set point policy of 74-76°F for heating season and 68-70°F for cooling season, within the limitations of the existing infrastructure.

For your safety, the use of portable electric heaters is strictly regulated. Such heaters are only allowed if FSCP determines that the building's heating system cannot maintain the targeted setpoints, and they must be approved by both the Environmental Health and Safety department and FSCP. Approved heaters must meet specific safety standards, including having an auto shut-off switch and being plugged directly into a wall outlet. Unauthorized heaters that do not comply with these safety requirements will result in their removal and disposal by authorized personnel.
