Celebrating a decade of International Coffee Hour at UD
April 23, 2024
UD’s premier weekly global gathering turns 10
On April 26, the Center for Global Programs and Services (CGPS) will host the 10-year celebration of International Coffee Hour to recognize the impact of this weekly tradition that supports and celebrates the University of Delaware’s global community.
Created to foster a sense of community among UD’s international student population, the weekly event has grown from a humble gathering of about 20 international students a decade ago to a campus-wide tradition that attracts hundreds of students, scholars, staff and faculty each week. With Student Life and Dining Services as long-time sponsors, CGPS also regularly partners with a network of student groups and local organizations to promote internationally-focused campus and community opportunities at this global event. The intentionally informal environment makes International Coffee Hour the perfect opportunity for all Blue Hens to meet new people, practice language skills and learn about different cultures — all while enjoying free coffee, tea, snacks and activities.
At the celebration, photos submitted by current students, alumni and past partners will be on display in a special anniversary slideshow, highlighting favorite memories from the past 10 years of International Coffee Hour. In addition to the traditional weekly activities, cake will be served to celebrate the occasion. A new, limited edition International Coffee Hour cup will be given to the first 100 attendees at the event.
The celebration will be held on April 26 in Trabant University Center on UD’s Newark campus from 4 to 6 p.m. All UD community members are invited to attend.
