Presentations

Fatema Bannat Walla, security engineer I, Information Technologies, gave two talks at "Art into Science 2020 – A Conference for Defense" held Jan. 14-16, 2020, in Austin Texas.  On Jan. 14, she presented “’Off label’ use of DNS – Interesting things to know about DNS!” and on Jan. 15, she presented “KYD – Know Your Devices, a method for profiling devices using DHCP.”  Art into Science is an organization dedicated to bringing security professionals together to foster the development of security methodologies in a systematic and consistent way.

Publications

Leslie F. Goldstein, Judge Hugh M. Morris Professor of Political Science Emeritus, has published a book review of A Political Companion to Frederick Douglass, Ed. Neil Roberts (University Press of Kentucky, 2018) in American Political Thought (winter 2020: 164-167).

Honors

The University of Delaware Collegiate Synchronized Skating Team (UDSST) struck gold at the 2020 Eastern Sectional Synchronized Skating Championships, held Jan. 15-18 in Albany, New York. Earning a team high score of 80.38 this season, UDSST captured its 21st Eastern Sectional Championship title skating to music from the hit movie 50 Shades of Grey. UD’s team beat out Boston University, University of Massachusetts and Liberty University, among others. Next the team heads to the National Championships in Providence, Rhode Island, scheduled from Feb. 26-29.

Eight students in the Department of Fashion and Apparel Studies have won awards in the national Fashion Scholarship Fund’s annual case study competition. Sarah Carlson received a $15,000 scholarship for placing among the top eight finalists, and $5,000 scholarships were awarded to Russell Moy, Afia Asamoah, Courtney Cullen, Sabrina Lee, Emma Davis, Katherine Kornienko and Talia Cohen. The awards support the careers of the nation’s most promising fashion students and provide recipients with internship and career opportunities, mentorships and networking. UD students have won awards in the competition every year since the University began participating about 10 years ago.
