Third annual art gala benefits FourYouth Productions

The University of Delaware's Blue Hen Leadership Program will host its third annual Art Gala to benefit FourYouth Productions, a local nonprofit, on Friday, Nov. 9, from 3-8 p.m. in the Trabant University Center Multipurpose Rooms.

FourYouth Productions is a local nonprofit that fosters the development of underprivileged youth through educational programs. The organization uses a hands-on approach to combine science, photography, engineering and culinary art, exposing students to career opportunities they otherwise may not have considered. With after-school classes often taught by UD's BHLP students, FourYouth not only fosters great academic success but also creates amazing art. The photography and art produced by the students is sold, with profits going towards a college fund for participants.

This is the third year that BHLP has sponsored this Art Gala, which has become the largest fundraising event for FourYouth. Last year, the event brought in $3,000 in the sale of art and raffle prizes. This year the goal is to raise $4,000 toward the FourYouth scholarship fund as the nonprofit will have its first graduating senior this spring.

The Art Gala is free and open to the UD community and will feature entertainment by UD a cappella groups and individual student musicians, as well as refreshments and a variety of raffle prizes.

Artwork may be previewed in the BHLP office in Trabant room 157A or on the FourYouth website at www.fouryouth.org.
