Infectious Disease Prevention

Student Health Services works to prevent the spread of infectious diseases on campus through education, vaccination, early identification and medical care. We provide information and resources on communicable diseases, including COVID-19, influenza, measles, meningitis, mpox and other illnesses that may affect the campus community.

Protect Yourself
and Others

You can reduce your risk of many infectious diseases by:

  • Staying up to date on recommended vaccinations

  • Washing your hands frequently with soap and water or using hand sanitizer when appropriate

  • Covering coughs and sneezes

  • Staying home when you are sick and avoiding close contact with others.

  • Following public health recommendations during outbreaks or increased illness activity

  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces
     

Vaccination

Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to prevent many infectious diseases. Student Health Services offers recommended vaccines for students and provides resources to help students understand vaccination requirements and recommendations.

Seek emergency medical care immediately for severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, confusion, seizures or other life-threatening symptoms.
