Summer Camp and Conference Housing
Residence Life and Housing provides on-campus housing for students participating in local internships and research, camps, and conferences. We operate a limited number of residence halls over the summer, staffed by our Summer Housing Managers and Assistants, for UD and non-UD students.
If you are hosting a summer camp or conference and need to coordinate housing for a group, our staff is happy to help you get set up with on-campus housing.
Information for Individuals and Groups
Eligibility
If you are a current UD student taking in-person Summer Session courses, you can apply for on-campus housing through your My Housing Portal.
Students and groups eligible for summer housing through Summer Camp and Conference Housing must be one of the following:
- A current UD student not enrolled in in-person summer courses, but who needs to be on campus for work, research or an internship
- A non-UD student participating in an on-campus job, internship or research
- A group (UD and non-UD affiliated) needing short-term, on-campus summer housing
Requesting Housing
To request summer housing, please complete the Summer Camp and Conference Request Form. After we receive your completed form, our staff will reach out to you with next steps. Group bookings are completed on a first-come-first-served basis.
Dates
Summer Camp and Conference Housing at UD will be available early June through mid-August each summer. Exact dates will be determined later in spring. Please reach out to us if with questions about availability for your group.
Locations
Summer housing locations depend on whether you are an individual or a group. Groups will work with our staff to be assigned a residence hall that meets the group's needs. Individual students will be assigned by our staff members based on availability. We may not be able to accommodate requests for specific buildings.
Rates
Individual rates for summer 2026 will be available in spring 2026. Please reach out to us to discuss group rates for camps and conferences.
Information for Groups
Request Deadline
Groups must submit their completed Summer Camp and Conference Request Form by Friday, April 3, 2026, at 5 p.m.
Groups with Minors
If any minors are staying on campus as part of your group, you must adhere to UD's Protection of Minors on Campus policy.
Linen Requests
Groups staying in residence halls can request linens, for an additional fee, to be provided for your group's stay. Our office with coordinate this with you upon request.
Microfridges
For larger groups, microfridge rentals are available for an additional fee. Our staff will coordinate microfridge rentals for your group upon request.
Housing Assignments
Our staff will assign groups on a rolling basis throughout the spring. Individual students will receive their on-campus summer housing assignment to their email in late spring.
Checking In
Groups and individuals will be given a date, time and check-in location prior to the move-in date. At check-in, you will receive your key and access card. Your check-in information will be sent to your group’s leader or to your individual email.
Included in the Room
All residence hall rooms include a twin extra long bed, desk and a dresser or wardrobe. After you receive your housing assignment, visit Our Residence Halls for information about the specific hall where you will stay.
Medical, Disability and Dining Accommodations
If you or members of your group need any specific medical or disability housing accommodations, please let us know when you submit the housing request form so we can work to provide a space that meets your needs. For information about eating on campus with a food allergy or dietary restriction, please contact Dining Services.
Roommates
Roommates and suitemates for individuals will be assigned by Residence Life & Housing staff based on occupancy and accommodation needs.
Group leaders will be responsible for assigning roommates for groups staying on campus.
Amenities and Assistance
Parking
There are pay-by-plate parking lots on campus for short-term visits. Long-term parking permits can be purchased from Parking Services. If you are part of a group and need to reserve a full parking lot (for a fee), please email us at summerhousing@udel.edu.
UD Mail Services and Package Centers have altered operations during the summer. We recommend summer housing residents utilize the Amazon lockers on campus or a local P.O. box. A UPS store and a U.S. Post Office are located within walking distance on Main Street.
Dining Halls
Dining Services will operate one dining hall and a select number of grab-and-go locations during the summer. For meal plans, locations and hours, please visit Dining Services.
Kitchens
Kitchens are not eligible for individual or group reservations, however anyone is welcome to use the community kitchens in residence halls. Kitchens are to be used solely for culinary purposes (cooking/food preparation), and all groups are responsible for their own clean up and trash removal. The University does not provide any kitchen equipment, cleaning supplies, utensils, etc.
Supplies may not be stored in the community kitchen and food must be removed from the community refrigerator within 24 hours. Any supplies or food items left in the kitchen will be disposed of.
Shuttles
UD Transportation operates summer bus routes from 7 a.m.–7 p.m., Monday through Friday. For route and shuttle information, visit UD Transportation.
Lost UD Card or Room Key
If you lose your UD card and/or room key, call our summer housing front desk at 302-831-4301. You will need to complete the liability waiver form and be charged the applicable fee(s):
$180 key replacement
$40 UD access card replacement
$40 UD meal card replacement
Reserve Classroom or Other Space
UD faculty and staff members can reserve a classroom through 25Live. Non-UD faculty and staff cannot reserve classrooms.
Spaces in UD’s two student centers can also be reserved for a fee through the University Student Centers.
The Clayton Conference Center is also available for a fee through University of Delaware Conference Services.
Maintenance or Custodial Issues
For maintenance and custodial issues, please call our Summer Camp and Conference Housing staff at 302-831-4301. This number is answered 24/7 for facilities emergencies.
