Our Residence Halls
UD's Residence Halls
Each year, we house around 7,000 students in more than 40 buildings on four areas of campus: Central, East, Laird and Apartment-style living.
Learn more about in-hall staff, furnishings and layouts of individual buildings below.
Types of Rooms
While some buildings are co-ed by floor, most buildings are co-ed by room, meaning that while students of the same gender share a room, suite or apartment, the floors in a building are often mixed gender.
Traditional
Traditional halls have rooms along the hallway with communal bathrooms located on each floor. Communal bathrooms are designated by gender as male or female. Rooms in these locations are primarily doubles or triples with a limited number of singles. Buildings with this configuration are located on East and Central Campus.
Suite-Style
Suite-style halls feature two bedrooms connected by a shared bathroom. Rooms in these locations are primarily doubles or triples with a limited number of singles. Buildings with this configuration are located on Laird (North) Campus.
Apartments
Apartments typically feature private bedrooms with either private or shared bathrooms. Apartments have a full kitchen and a living room space. Nearly all of our apartment housing is located in the University Courtyard Apartment complex located on the eastern most part of campus.

2025–2026 Housing Rates
All students assigned to residence halls will be charged one of our published rates for their assigned hall and room type. A charge of $4,670.00 on the student account means that the student was billed for housing but has not yet been charged for their final assigned space. The charge will be adjusted on the student account once our system processes the billing update.
Housing rates for the upcoming academic year are determined by the Board of Trustees in their spring meeting, and are generally released in June or July. We typically see a 3–7% increase to the previous year's rates.
