Volunteer Shout-Outs - January 2026

The Office of Development and Alumni Relations relies on a team of dedicated Blue Hen volunteers to strengthen the connections between alumni, students and the University through a variety of programs and events. Volunteers' many contributions include planning and helping to lead regional, affinity and reunion events, offering mentorship and professional development opportunities to students and serving as proud ambassadors of UD.

Here, we regularly spotlight volunteers that enhance the UD experience for students and alumni.

"I give back so that I can generate good will for the University so that another deserving student can benefit from scholarships funded by alumni donors."

This year, Deirdre celebrates 10 years of service as a Regional Ambassador for the Kent & Sussex Blue Hen Network. Throughout her time volunteering, she has enthusiastically organized and promoted numerous events, helping to strengthen connections between Kent & Sussex Blue Hens.

Deirdre’s commitment to UD extends beyond alumni engagement as she has also supported Blue Hen students through UD’s Job Shadow and Mentor Collective Mentoring programs, sharing her time, insight, and support.

A dedicated alumna and proud Blue Hen, Deirdre is also a member of the Delaware Diamonds Giving Society.

Let’s hear from Deirdre:

Fun Fact: “I went swimming with penguins while studying abroad in South Africa.”

Why I Give Back: “During my time at UD, I received scholarships which enabled me to attend. I give back so that I can generate good will for the University so that another deserving student can benefit from scholarships funded by alumni donors.”
