Volunteer Shout-Outs - August 2025
The Office of Development and Alumni Relations relies on a team of dedicated Blue Hen volunteers to strengthen the connections between alumni, students and the University through a variety of programs and events. Volunteers' many contributions include planning and helping to lead regional, affinity and reunion events, offering mentorship and professional development opportunities to students and serving as proud ambassadors of UD.
Here, we regularly spotlight volunteers that enhance the UD experience for students and alumni.

Amy Levitz Grundy, EHD90
"I’m deeply grateful for the opportunities I had, both through the support of my family and the education I received here."
Effective July 1, Amy began her two-year term as President of the University of Delaware Alumni Association (UDAA) Board of Directors. She first joined the UDAA Board in 2019 and has since contributed to the board’s work through a variety of leadership roles including Awards Committee Chair, Nominating Committee Chair while Vice President, and as a member of the Executive Committee. A dedicated alumna, Amy is also a proud member of the True-Blue Hen Giving Society.
“Amy is a great example for other alumni wanting to get involved no matter how many years it’s been since graduation. Her dedication to our alumni community and the UDAA, as well as her blue and gold spirit, will be valuable throughout her tenure,” shared Lauren Murray Simione, BE95, AVP of Alumni Engagement.
Let’s hear from Amy:
Fun Fact: “On my very first day at UD, I met one of my very best friends in the world—my randomly assigned roommate! (Before today’s roommate-matching systems). In fact, we even accidentally bought the same comforter. Russell B Room 117!”
Why I Give Back: “As an education major, UD gave me the foundation for a rewarding career as a teacher, principal, and district office leader. That’s why I give back—I’m deeply grateful for the opportunities I had, both through the support of my family and the education I received here.”
