Welcome to Undergraduate Student Services (USS) for the College of Health Sciences! The Assistant Deans and Academic Support Coordinator that make up the USS team can be a valuable resource for students as they progress through their academic plan, as well as provide support to the faculty and departmental staff in their roles as advisors.
Freshmen and Sophomores are assigned generalist advisors who can speak to the many majors within the College of Health Sciences. Juniors and Seniors are assigned faculty and/or professional advisors who have expertise and knowledge in their fields of study. Nursing and Sports Health students will have the same assigned professional advisor for all 4 years. All of our advisement staff provide a range of services for our students, including individual appointments, drop-in hours, group advising sessions and outreach. We encourage meeting regularly with the assigned advisor to plan an academic career path and explore the many resources and opportunities available. If a student’s needs surpass the ability of an advisor, we work to connect the student with the best possible resources available on campus.

Medical/Dental Scholars
This is a unique early admissions dual track pre-medical/pre-dental eight-year academic program sponsored by the University of Delaware in consort with the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and the Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University. It is designed for those unique students who are certain that they want to become physicians or dentists and who desire a program of academic study blending the scientific and cultural aspects of the various medical professions. CEI Summer Scholars
The CEI Summer Scholars program provides highly motivated undergraduates funding to immerse themselves in a community-based research or creative project under the direction of a faculty mentor. Scholars spend ten weeks during the summer in full time pursuit of their projects in partnership with a Delaware non-profit, governmental, community-based action research, or service-based corporate activity and simultaneously pursue academic reflection under the guidance of a UD faculty mentor. Scholars earn three credits in preparation for the program, following their summer project, or some combination of the two. During the summer, scholars are enrolled in a zero credit P/F Sustaining Course and attend a weekly seminar led by CEI staff. The CEI Summer Fellows program provides partial support for students who would like to participate in a community-based project while combining it with other summer activities such as coursework and/or employment. Projects may vary in length of time commitment and level of funding. During the summer, fellows are enrolled in a zero credit P/F Sustaining Course and are invited to attend a weekly seminar led by CEI staff. Community Engagement Scholars Course of Study (CESCS)
The Community Engagement Scholars Course of Study (CESCS) is an academic program that prepares students for life as engaged citizens. Open to students from all majors, Scholars receive enhanced advising from the Community Engagement Initiative to integrate a community engagement focus into their major and career goals. In addition to traditional course work, Scholars connect theory-to-practice through participation in volunteer activities, community-based immersion programs, and service trips culminating in an eportfolio that synthesizes their development as active citizens. Scholars may receive funding for significant community-based projects. Scholars receive recognition on their transcript upon successful completion.
