Spark! Symposium returns Oct. 30 to spotlight graduate research

From communication to the cosmos — research that redefines boundaries

The University of Delaware Graduate College continues its mission to spotlight innovative research and connect scholars with the public through the Spark! Symposium, returning this fall with the theme “New Frontiers: Discoveries Across Health, Society and the Galaxy.”

The event will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 4-7 p.m. in the Audion on the Science, Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus.

This dynamic symposium will feature six doctoral student presenters from across UD’s colleges, each delivering brief, engaging talks that explore new ideas and discoveries in fields ranging from literature and communication to physics and engineering:

  • Holli Flanagan, English, College of Arts and Sciences
  • Brooke Molokach, Communication, College of Arts and Sciences
  • John Oluwadero, Education and Social Policy, Graduate College
  • Victor Ramirez Delgado, Physics, College of Arts and Sciences
  • Violet Strawderman, English, College of Arts and Sciences
  • Samantha Swedzinski, Materials Science and Engineering, College of Engineering

Spark! Symposiums are designed to break disciplinary boundaries and invite attendees from all backgrounds to engage with bold ideas and the scholars behind them. These fast-paced, interactive talks showcase the curiosity, creativity and collaboration that fuel innovation at UD.
