Delaware INBRE announces biomedical research funding opportunities

Biomedical research pilot project awards now available

The Delaware IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (DE-INBRE) is a collaborative network of five partner institutions in the state: University of Delaware, Delaware State University, ChristianaCare, Delaware Technical Community College and Nemours Children’s Health. The network catalyzes multidisciplinary biomedical research initiatives that build Delaware’s biomedical research capacity and workforce.

DE-INBRE invites researchers to apply for its next round of research and pilot project funding, with an anticipated start date of May 2026. Applicants must be employed by a DE-INBRE partner institution or affiliate institution and hold independent investigator status as defined by their institution. (Graduate students, clinical fellows and postdoctoral scholars are not eligible to serve as PIs.)

Approximately 11 pilot projects will be awarded across Delaware. Pilot project awards are mentored, one-year grants (up to $40,000) that provide seed funding to support new research directions for one year. PIs must have three months, or 25% of their workload, devoted to research and professional development activities.

Detailed application information can be found on the Delaware INBRE website.

Letters of intent are due by Oct. 8, 2025. Full proposals are due by Nov. 3, 2025.

Please direct any questions to DE-INBRE Developmental Research Pilot Program (DRPP) Director Anjana Bhat (abhat@udel.edu) or the DE-INBRE office (info@de-inbre.org).
