Students are encouraged to enroll in Summer Session classes to get ahead or catch up on courses

Students are encouraged to enroll in the University of Delaware’s Summer Session courses as a part of their graduation plans. Summer Session 2023 offers two five-week terms, a seven-week term or a 10-week term beginning June 5, 2023. Summer Session Registration is now underway.

UD has a long history of offering high-quality courses rooted in research-based knowledge. Special sessions offer smaller class sizes, additional time to network with professors, an opportunity to participate in experiential learning, and a chance to get caught up or get ahead with coursework.

According to George Irvine, associate vice provost for professional and continuing studies, “Taking a UD special session course is a great way for students to earn their degree quickly or add a minor or concentration. UD now has more online and in-person courses in the summer special session from which students can choose.”

Faculty and advisers are encouraged to discuss the benefits of Summer Session courses with students — including pursuing a dual major or minor or simply focus on a tougher subject in a shorter period.

Summer is a great time to meet with UD Career Center consultants who help students explore internships and the job shadowing program. Job shadowing applications open on April 28 and close on May 12, 2023.

More summer session courses are being offered due to increased demand. Amanda Steele-Middleton, UD registrar, said, “A wide variety of courses are offered during Summer Session. These courses are a great way to customize an academic experience to meet or enhance a student’s academic goals.”
