Two charged with package thefts

Newark Police have charged two men in connection with package thefts in Newark.

On July 8, a resident in the 200 block of Woodlawn Avenue in Newark reported the theft of a package delivered to their front porch. The resident provided police with surveillance video showing a man pulling up to the house in a vehicle and stealing the package. Using additional surveillance cameras, officers were able to determine the license plate of the vehicle.

Through investigation, Newark Police determined that the vehicle had been driven by Ethan Price, 19, who is a sophomore at the University of Delaware.

On July 13, police conducted a search of Price’s residence and located the package stolen from Woodlawn Avenue, along with additional stolen packages and merchandise.

During the investigation, Jacob Fleming, 19, of Newark, was found to have also been involved in the thefts with Price.

On Aug. 5, Price and Fleming turned themselves in to Newark Police and were charged with theft under $1,500, two counts of receiving stolen property and conspiracy.

Both Price and Fleming were released on their own recognizance. Price has been referred to the University’s Office of Student Conduct.
