Prescription Drug Take Back Day set April 30
April 28, 2022
Unwanted, expired medications can be dropped off at UD Police Department
The University of Delaware Police Department is participating in the 21st National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, scheduled from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, April 30.
During this event, members of the campus community can bring unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs to the UD Police collection site at 413 Academy St. on the Newark campus.
Last year’s Prescription Drug Take Back Day brought in nearly a million pounds of medications, the largest amount ever collected in the program’s history. In spring 2020, approximately 13% of college students nationally reported they misused a prescription stimulant in the past three months, approximately 13% misused a prescription sedative and 4% misused a prescription opioid.
This national event is sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators and NASPA—Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.
