For the Record provides information about recent professional activities and honors of University of Delaware faculty, staff, students and alumni.
Recent honors and publications include the following:
Honors
Jessica Horton, associate professor of art history, will be the Terra Foundation Professor of Ecocriticism and Indigenous Art at the Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de São Paulo, the Federal University of São Paulo and the University of Campinas, Brazil, in the spring 2022 term.
An article by Hannah Kim, associate professor of history, entitled “Death in Philadelphia, 1958: The Murder of In-Ho Oh and the Politics of Cold War America,” was a finalist for the Robert Cherney Prize for outstanding article from the Pacific Coast Branch of the American Historical Association. The article was published in Pacific Historical Review.
Levi Thompson, dean of the College of Engineering and Elisabeth Inez Kelley Professor of Chemical Engineering, is featured in an article, “Academic Passion,” in the September/October 2021 issue of Diversity in Action Magazine. In the article, he discusses his engineering background, as well as the importance of diversity, equality and inclusion in engineering.
Publications
Rudi Matthee, John and Dorothy Munroe Distinguished Professor of History, edited The Safavid World (Routledge, 2021). He wrote the introduction to this 750-page volume, pp. 1-12. His own essay, “Safavid Iran from Shah Safi to Shah Soltan Hoseyn: Stability and Stasis,” one of 30, appears pp. 144-63.
