Select Campus Galleries Now Open

Old College Gallery and the Special Collections Gallery have reopened

Old College Gallery and the Special Collections Gallery in Morris Library have reopened for University of Delaware students, faculty and staff to visit this semester. While capacity is limited due to coronavirus (COVID-19) health and safety protocols, no appointment is necessary to drop in and spend time reflecting on art, culture and history.

Old College Gallery is open Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. through May 19, 2021. There are two exhibitions on view. In the Main Gallery, visitors can explore the exhibition “Friends and Enemies: Whistler and His Artistic, Literary and Social Circles.” In the West Gallery, the exhibition “Art, Artifacts and Specimens from the Collectors Cabinet” is on display.

The Special Collections Gallery in Morris Library is open Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. through May 19, 2021. Visitors will find the exhibition “Trail to the Voting Booth: An Exploration of Political Ephemera” on view. In addition, the Lincoln Exhibition Case, located outside the Special Collections Gallery, is available to view during Morris Library’s hours of operation. The exhibition “Ex Libris: Selections from the Poetry Library of X.J. Kennedy” is on display.

Currently, both galleries are only open to UD students, faculty and staff. For those off campus or outside the UD community, these exhibitions and more are accessible online.
