Schedule of virtual and in person events planned

The University of Delaware has planned a full schedule of in person and virtual events to welcome new and returning Blue Hens and help students connect with each other through shared interests and experiences.

The annual Spring 1743 Welcome Days will begin Monday, Feb. 8, and continues through Friday, Feb. 19. Complete information is regularly updated on the Student Life Virtual Hub, a gateway to student engagement and involvement opportunities for all students.

“Every student, whether they’re on or off campus, is an important and valued member of the UD community, so we want everyone to be involved in making this a great semester,” said Vice President for Student Life José-Luis Riera.

Highlights of 1743 Welcome Days include:

  • Playfair — Playfair will be held virtually from 2-3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9. Playfair Online is a high-spirited, high-energy event that allows new students to engage with each other, laugh with each other and feel a part of an exciting new campus community. It’s team building, it’s comedy, and it’s lots of fun.

  • The Preview of Perkins Live — The Preview of Perkins Live will be held in person at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12 in both the Trabant University Center and Perkins Student Center. Join us to see a preview of everything Perkins Live has to offer. Enjoy a variety of activities from hypnotists, comedians, trivia game shows and more. Facial coverings are required and social distancing guidelines must be followed to participate. This event is sponsored by the University Student Centers.

  • Spring Involvement Fair – The Involvement Fair 2.0 will be held virtually from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb.16. New and returning students can learn about and connect with Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) through more than 200 Welcome Videos and 15-minute Zoom information sessions. This event is sponsored by the University Student Centers.

Other events include virtual quizzo, bingo, ice breakers, virtual socials, daily in person residence hall activities, campus tours, and more. Also, new and returning students can engage in academic success sessions, wellbeing sessions, information sessions and discussions with current students about all aspects of UD life.
