In these uncertain times, when many businesses are closed and job markets continue to be volatile, starting a job or internship search can be incredibly daunting. For current students looking for an internship, recent graduates hoping to find their first job and even for seasoned professionals ready to make a career shift, there are so many factors that can make it difficult to know where to begin. That is where the Career Services Center at the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics steps in. Throughout the summer, the Center will be offering a series of webinars called the “Career Experts How To Panels.”

“We wanted to provide an opportunity for our students and alumni to learn from the experts about professional development topics,” said Jill Gugino Pante, director of Lerner Career Services. “Many job seekers are anxious right now about their resume, interviews and if employers are still hiring. Putting together these panels was a way to connect experts to these topics and provide another level of support for our Blue Hens.”

The virtual events will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. EST and feature panels made up of industry experts, including many UD alumni. The panel topics are suited for anyone hoping to build their professional brand and succeed in their job search. Attendees will also have the opportunity to grow their professional networks through interactions with the panelists during the events.

“Recruitment happens year round so it’s always a good time to build your professional skills,” Gugino Pante said. “We know that the fall may be very busy and challenging to navigate for students, so having these panels in the summer can give the students an edge. We will also be recording these sessions and we will have this expert advice posted on our website for future viewing.”

Each panel will feature expert panelists who will discuss a different topic essential for a successful job search including:

• How to Create a Stand-Out Resume on Thursday, June 25 at 10 a.m. EST
  Panelists include: Jason Castelluccio, managing director and client portfolio manager at Nuveen; Sarah Brumbley, managing director at Top Stack; Michael Smith, director of strategic initiatives and partnerships in UD’s College of Health Sciences; Clayton Rowe, vice president and business insight specialist at TD Bank; and Maureen Henry, senior manager and research scientist at Customer Value Partners. 

• How to Promote Yourself on LinkedIn on Thursday, July 9 at 10 a.m. EST
  Panelists include: Greg Plum, director of marketing at Brandywine Technology; Susan W. Green, SWG Consulting  and retired Ally Bank executive; and Adam Dictrow, senior vice president of enterprise sales at Dataminr.

• How to Maximize your Job and Internship Search on Thursday, July 23 at 10 a.m. EST
  Panelists include: John Peruzzi, managing director at Citi; Jason Castelluccio, managing director and client portfolio manager at Nuveen; Jessica Eule, senior director of education programs at 1010data; and Greg Plum, director of marketing at Brandywine Technology.

• How to Impress in the (Virtual) Interview on Thursday, Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. EST
  Panelists include: Tom Nelson, senior vice president and head of asset allocation portfolio management at Franklin Templeton Investments; Bill Doman, director of mobility and customer solutions at Holman Business Services/ARI; Sarah Brumbley, managing director at Top Stack; Jocelyn Wright, founder and CEO at Ascension Wealth Management; and Darren Watson, education savings specialist at Vanguard.

• How to Negotiate your Best Salary on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. EST
  Panelists include: Eric Suro, vice president of sales at InterMetro Industries Corporation; Matthew Futterman, manager of referee operations at the National Basketball Association; Susan W. Green, SWG Consulting and retired Ally Bank executive; and Will Cobb, manager at Strategy& (part of the PwC network).
