Dining Services expands partnership with Good Uncle to offer new meal plan tender

During the past year, members of the University of Delaware community have been able order restaurant-quality meals from Dining Services’ partner, Good Uncle, for delivery on and off campus. This fall, Dining Services, managed by Aramark, has extended that partnership with Good Uncle to allow students to use their UD ONEcard inside the Good Uncle app to get access to a new meal plan tender, Good Uncle Dollars, that they can add on to any meal plan.

“Dining Services always looks to bring new, innovative food options to campus, said Amanda Steiner, vice president of dining operations on campus. “Our partnership with Good Uncle offers even more exciting meals and flavors and helps us provide a new service to students, food delivery.”

In these times where social distancing is encouraged, it’s a quick and easy way for students to order chef-driven meals that are delivered right to them at one of many Good Uncle drop points. Good Uncle offers a wide range of dishes, from healthy salads, to ethnic plates, to indulgent baked pastas, delivered in an average of 25 minutes with zero delivery fees and no order minimums.

Good Uncle begins service to the campus community on Monday, Aug. 31, which gives meal plan holders the opportunity to add Good Uncle Dollars. Students can add any amount of Good Uncle Dollars to their meal plan now and then can reload anytime throughout the semester when they begin to run low, by using the Dining Plan Change Request form in UDSIS.

Good Uncle's hours of operation are 4 p.m.-midnight, Mondays through Thursdays; 4 p.m.-2 a.m., Fridays; noon-2 a.m., Saturdays; and noon-midnight, Sundays.

“We’re excited to take our partnership with UD to the next level, said Matthew Doumar, chief executive officer of Good Uncle. “Whether students are looking for something quick before class, food late night or something in between, Good Uncle is ready to deliver.”

For those who already have the Good Uncle app, they can follow these steps to access their Good Uncle Dollars by linking their UD ONEcard, and to place an order:

  • Open the Good Uncle app;
  • Select your desired drop point in “Newark DE” based on location and time estimate;
  • Link your College Dining Card from the menu screen or under Payment Methods;
  • Use your UD credentials to add your UD ONEcard;
  • Browse through Good Uncle’s menu to start ordering;
  • Select College Dining Card as your payment method to use your Good Uncle Dollars;
  • Scroll down to confirm the details of your order and payment method;
  • Place your order; and
  • Track the Good Uncle van.

If students’ ONEcard has been deactivated because it was lost or stolen, they must relink their replacement card before using it for payment in the app.

For those that do not have the Good Uncle app, download it from the App Store and sign up. Then follow the steps above, making sure to select “Newark DE” as your market. Good Uncle’s Android app is under development and will be available to the campus community in the coming months.
