In messages to students, faculty and staff on Aug. 10, University of Delaware administrators shared steps that members of the campus community will need to take if they will be on any of UD’s campuses this fall.

Fall classes are scheduled to begin at UD on Sept. 1. The majority of fall courses will be delivered online, but there will be some classes on campus for strictly limited areas of study that require face-to-face instruction. Campus research reactivation is also currently underway.

The Aug. 10 messages noted that “as members of the UD community, it’s up to all of us to keep each other safe. Testing and health screenings are essential elements of this plan for everyone on our campuses.”

For those who will be on the campus this fall for classes, research or any activity, the following steps must be taken:

• You must get a COVID-19 molecular diagnostic test (PCR) within 14 days before you arrive on campus. Students must submit their results to Student Health Services, and faculty and staff submit their results to UD Human Resources. Those who are already working on campus are asked to get tested as soon as possible so results are in hand by Sept. 1. (In Delaware, visit coronavirus.delaware.gov/testing to find a list of testing sites statewide.) 
• After the test, you must self-quarantine until you arrive on campus, whether the test is positive or negative.
• Once on campus, you will need to complete daily health questionnaires and periodic COVID-19 testing to help the University identify any potential cases and contain a possible COVID-19 outbreak.
