The University of Delaware’s annual food drive to benefit Blue Hen Bounty and the Food Bank of Delaware begins Monday, Nov. 11, and runs through Friday, Dec. 13, with 13 places for people to drop off non-perishable food items in donation barrels.

Food donations will be delivered weekly to Blue Hen Bounty, the student-led food pantry for UD students with food insecurities, with the remaining majority of the donations being delivered to the Food Bank of Delaware on Dec. 16. This will be the first year Parking Services has partnered with Blue Hen Bounty with hopes to fill their cupboards with donations prior to the fall semester exam period.

The project is run by UD Parking Services, in conjunction with UD partners such as STAR Health Sciences, Human Resources, the Morris Library, the College of Engineering and Recreation.

Due to the academic calendar, the Cans for Cites program will begin prior to Thanksgiving for the first time. Starting Nov. 18, Parking Services will kick off the sixth annual Cans for Cites program. The website is https://sites.udel.edu/parking/citations-appeals. A donation of a non-perishable food item counts as a $5 payment towards a parking citation less than 30 days old. The Cans for Cites program will run through Dec. 13.
