Blue Hens flock together for celebration of community

University of Delaware families will arrive on campus beginning Friday, Oct. 18 for the UD's annual Parents and Family Weekend (PFW) celebration. The program kicks off on Friday afternoon and continues through Sunday with receptions and activities for the whole family to enjoy with their student.

Popular activities include the "Whose Live Anyway? Comedy Show," on Friday evening, for which doors open at 7 p.m. in the Bob Carpenter Center. Guests are encouraged to arrive early as seating is general admission, and to park in the STAR Tower Lot if arriving from the south, or near UDairy Creamery and the Fred Rust Ice Arena if arriving from the north, for easier exit at the conclusion of the show. Complimentary parking will be available in all campus lots throughout the weekend, and walking as well as shuttle bus routes can be found on the PFW website.

Campus will be teeming with UD spirit on Saturday, as the University welcomes Parents and Family Weekend guests as well as prospective Blue Hens attending Admissions’ Blue and Golden Saturday open house. Visitors are encouraged to park their car once and utilize shuttle buses or walking routes to travel around campus. Suggested parking lots for "Coffee With the Dean," a new event planned for Saturday at 9 a.m. in all seven undergraduate colleges, are available on the PFW website.

Many Parents and Family Weekend activities are free for students and their families to attend. Event registration opened on Aug. 1 to assist in planning, and those who registered received QR codes via email to admit each member of their party to their events. The comedy show and Saturday's 1 p.m. football game against New Hampshire require a Ticketmaster ticket with barcode for entry. Questions regarding these tickets may be directed to 302-831-2257 or athletics-tix@udel.edu.

All PFW events will take place rain or shine. Details about all events can be found on the website, and volunteers can be found throughout campus on Friday, Saturday and Sunday by their white volunteer badges on blue lanyards.
