Newark Police are investigating an incident that occurred around 8:50 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, in the unit block of White Clay Drive in Newark.

According to the police report, a 21-year-old man was walking there when a vehicle drove past him and stopped. Three men got out of the vehicle, and one of them displayed a baseball bat. The victim was ordered to turn over property, and he complied. One of the suspects slapped and punched the victim in the head before the three returned to the vehicle and fled on North College Avenue.

The victim returned to his residence and spoke with a friend; they left the residence together and attempted to locate the suspects, while the victim called the police.

The victim and his friend located the suspects and confronted them in an alleyway off East Cleveland Avenue. As the suspects attempted to drive away, the victim’s friend, a 22-year-old man, jumped onto the vehicle and fell off. The vehicle drove over the friend’s leg and struck a parked vehicle. The suspects’ vehicle was last seen fleeing eastbound on East Cleveland Avenue

As a result of this incident, the first victim sustained a bruise on his head. He did not require medical attention. The friend sustained injury to his leg and was treated and released from an area hospital.

There is no further description available of the suspects or the vehicle.
