UD entrepreneurs can vie for free access to space and expertise at the Delaware Innovation Space

Editor's note: The deadline for applications has been extended to Aug. 31.

The Delaware Innovation Space in partnership with the University of Delaware is seeking applications for the inaugural UD FastPass competition. A UD FastPass gives one science-based startup a chance to accelerate its business growth with complimentary access to research space and expertise.

The winner will receive up to one year of dedicated wet lab space, access to state-of-the-art scientific equipment and programmatic support at the Delaware Innovation Space located within the renowned Experimental Station in Wilmington.

The competition is open to established start-up companies that have affiliations with UD. This includes founders and/or leadership team members who are students, faculty, staff or alumni of the University. Businesses with foundational intellectual property developed at UD are also eligible. Applicants should have a strong business concept within the strategic domains of advanced materials, biotechnology, healthcare, nutrition, chemical ingredients or renewable energy.

UD FastPass applications are due by Aug. 31. After initial application review, semifinalists will be selected for further interviews and evaluation. Five finalists will be selected to participate in an on-site pitch competition at the Experimental Station in the early fall, where one FastPass will be awarded. Judges for the competition will be selected by the University of Delaware and the Delaware Innovation Space.
