'Hail and Well Done' event welcomes and recognizes new and honored faculty

Provost Domenico Grasso and his wife, Susan, hosted their annual “Hail and Well Done” reception on Saturday, Sept. 23, to welcome new faculty members and congratulate newly promoted and tenured faculty members.

More than 100 faculty members and their families attended the event, held in the Center for the Arts Courtyard. University mascot YoUDee was on hand for photos while children played games in the courtyard and enjoyed ice cream from the UDairy Creamery Moo Mobile.

Grasso welcomed and congratulated the faculty members who attended, while also introducing the deans and University leaders who came out to support the honored professors. Grasso, who will be stepping down from his current role later this month, is a military veteran. He started the “Hail and Well Done” tradition after he arrived on campus four years ago, basing it on a military tradition called “Hail and Farewell.”

“This is one of my favorite events each year,” Grasso said. “It is a fun and family-friendly way to recognize our dedicated team of educators and show our appreciation for their hard work and commitment to our students.”
