Individual Counseling

At the Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD), we offer short-term, goal-focused individual counseling services to help students thrive emotionally, relationally and academically. Our team will work with you to set goals and create a care plan that fits your needs. If longer-term or specialized care is needed, we’ll help connect you to trusted community providers for ongoing support.

Common Mental Health Concerns We Address

College can be exciting, but it also comes with stress and other challenges that feel difficult to navigate. The Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD) provides support for a wide range of mental health concerns. Here are some of the most common reasons students seek help:

Anxiety is the most common concern students bring to CCSD. It can show up as excessive worry, restlessness, bodily tension, sleep issues or irritability—sometimes tied to specific situations such as academics or social situations. Getting Started

Walk-In and Triage Appointments

A 30-minute interview—or triage appointment—is the first step in your counseling journey. Our triage counselors will work with you to understand your needs and create a customized treaatment plan.

Triages are available in-person on a walk-in or scheduled basis during standard business hours. Telehealth triages can be scheduled via the UD Health Portal. Please allow at least one hour for the triage process, including paperwork.

Triages are generally seen on a first-come, first-served basis. During peak hours, students without emergent concerns may be asked to return at a later date or time, or select a scheduled appointment.
